It’s been said, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” Within the environmental remediation industry, and in particular for REGENESIS Remediation Services (RRS), this is certainly true. As a major division within the company, providing product application services throughout North America and Europe, RRS is instrumental in field testing new products, and sees change as a precursor to fueling improvement. While the increased complexities of remediation design and technology no doubt present challenges, RRS successfully confronts these with thorough design verification testing. Considered a “reality check” – design verification testing helps validate the remediation design from the geologist’s perspective, and whether the design can be effectively implemented in the field.

RRS has gained a reputation for combining excellence in on-site field activity management with REGENESIS’ industry-leading technologies, to bring sites to successful regulatory closure. Led by Division Manager Scott Mullin, RRS represents a diverse group of specialists that includes project managers, environmental engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, chemists and microbiologists – each with unique capabilities and extensive qualifications. The result is experienced, highly technical, on-site management and implementation of groundwater and soil remediation solutions across North America and Europe.

When it comes to successful outcomes on remediation projects, it’s clear that several objectives must be met. Meeting these objectives is perhaps where RRS excels most, especially in a competitive and demanding industry. As a department, the success of RRS can be attributed, in part, to its wide range of capabilities. These include field application management and supervision, soil mixing, (ex situ and in situ), horizontal directional drilling, reagent application/injection services, and leveraging the capabilities of their very own in-house treatability laboratory, to evaluate and optimize remedial solutions. In addition, RRS partners with the company’s Remediation and Design Services department to ensure clients receive the most effective and cost-conscious remedies for achieving remediation project objectives. The RRS influence is also felt within other REGENESIS departments. In the words of one RRS staff member, “Our in-house application experience and knowledge assists the field sales and research and development teams to better understand the critical application components of our remediation products. This continues to play a significant role in the development of new products.”

In addition to core field services such as soil mixing, horizontal directional drilling, and the use of high resolution site characterization tools, RRS adheres to stringent safety standards that extend beyond the REGENESIS staff. These standards are applied to all subcontractors under RRS supervision. RRS field services employees maintain OSHA 40-hour initial health and safety training and 8-hour annual training in compliance with OSHA 1910.120. To ensure accurate record keeping and reporting compliance, RRS documents noteworthy observations, real-time monitoring, and application delivery information. Information such as start/stop times, injection intervals, flow rates, pressures, total gallons, and gallons per intervals are documented for each injection point. This information is then provided in a comprehensive application summary report which includes a written document detailing the remediation project, a spreadsheet of information collected in the field, and a site map.

A hallmark service advantage of RRS is its ability to customize remediation application equipment based upon the demands and conditions encountered at various sites. This is accomplished using highly customized remediation application trailers. RRS utilizes a fleet of these fully enclosed, self-sufficient injection trailers, which are configured specifically for the purpose of mixing, handling and delivering REGENESIS remediation technologies.

As a department comprised of highly trained, dedicated specialists that deliver across a broad spectrum of on-site groundwater and soil remediation services, the RRS team believes no one has more professional experience understanding, handling and applying REGENESIS products. Few, if any, within the remediation industry bring such a broad range of technology solutions, vast application expertise, and a vested commitment to successful regulatory closure.
