Job Title: Research Associate – Analytical Chemist

Job Description: REGENESIS, a global leader in the groundwater and soil remediation industry, is currently seeking a full-time Research Associate with an emphasis in analytical chemistry to work at their corporate headquarters in San Clemente, CA. As a member of the research and development team, the Research Associate – Analytical Chemist will be responsible for the operation and advancement of all analytical instrumentation in support of product development research in the environmental field. In addition, this position will perform specialized laboratory experiments to test and validate new technologies. This position reports to the Director of R&D.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all laboratory instrumentation including GC-MS, GC-FID/ECD, HPLC, and UV-Vis
  • Develop, optimize, and improve laboratory product testing methods
  • Coordinate with 3rd party analytical labs and analyze data
  • Stay up-to-date with new analytical techniques and regulatory limits for environmental contaminants
  • Prepare reports and presentations for R&D management
  • Assist with bench scale product testing relating to specific customer projects
  • Develop and author standard operating procedures
  • Develop, organize, and execute laboratory experiments in support of current and developing product lines and technologies
  • Document all procedures, data, and results in notebooks
  • Follow laboratory compliance and safety policies
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in chemistry with an emphasis in analytical chemistry, preferably with a background in environmental chemistry
  • At least 2 years of experience with Agilent and/or Shimadzu GC-MS/FID instrumentation including maintenance and method development
  • Knowledge and experience in a wide range of wet chemistry laboratory practices including handling of volatile chemicals
  • Familiarity with EPA test methods
  • Must be highly organized, collaborative, self-motivated, and team-oriented
  • Ability to organize and critically evaluate large data sets
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
