For Elliot Maker, who recently joined REGENESIS as the new Northeast Technical Sales Representative, combining his environmental engineering expertise with his interest in leading-edge bioremediation solutions felt like a great opportunity. He begins, “Initially, I was really drawn in by the array of remediation technologies REGENESIS has to offer. I am looking forward to providing effective remediation treatments and designs to a variety of contaminated sites and working firsthand with our clients.” Prior to starting with REGENESIS in January, Maker served as a Project Engineer for two environmental consulting firms in the Northeast, where he gained a range of valuable field experience and report writing. He continues, “I performed a great deal of environmental sampling and monitoring (groundwater, soil, air), oversaw geotechnical and environmental drilling operations, conducted GPS surveying, developed field drawings, conducted hazardous building material surveys, and provided general construction oversight. It really served as a great foundation for my current role.”

To prepare for a career in environmental remediation, Maker earned his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and his Master of Science in Civil/ Environmental Engineering, from the University of Vermont. He shares, “For my master’s project I looked at background concentrations of several per and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in Vermont shallow soils. I extracted 66 samples that were then quantified using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis. The second part of my research was looking at Zero Valent Iron as an in-situ remediation tool for PFAS contamination. ZVI has proven to be effective in Elliot Maker Technical Sales Representative In the Spotlight 4 degradation of organic contaminants.” When asked what he feels he will enjoy most about his new position, he says it’s the opportunity to work firsthand with clients to help develop effective remedial solutions for a variety of impacted sites. “Also, being able to learn and become more knowledgeable about the environmental challenges we face in today’s market.”

“Environmental engineering, and more specifically environmental remediation, seemed like a great way to fit all my interests into a career. Plus, I get to help provide solutions for a healthier earth for future generations, which is important to me.”

Maker recalls that while growing up he loved math and science and was interested in how the subjects could potentially intersect with his love of the outdoors. He shares, “Environmental engineering, and more specifically environmental remediation, seemed like a great way to fit all my interests into a career. Plus, I get to help provide solutions for a healthier earth for future generations, which is important to me.” In his free time, Maker enjoys being in nature, where he can often be found navigating a favorite hiking trail, swimming, or playing soccer. He also finds time for alpine skiing at nearby Shawnee Peak, a favorite ski area in Maine. He shares, “I grew up in Maine and enjoy Shawnee Peak ski area most because it’s where I learned to ski, and it always brings back fun memories.” Between his love for the outdoors and a passion for helping to clean up our environment, Maker sees his new position with REGENESIS as an ideal way to enjoy a new chapter in a career that he feels is constantly evolving. He concludes, “Working at REGENESIS will allow me to stay on the forefront of remedial technologies as we are consistently developing new products for the treatment of new and emerging contaminants.”

REGENESIS is proud to welcome Elliot Maker to the team as Northeast Technical Sales Representative, and appreciates his valuable experience and continued commitment to developing successful remediation outcomes for REGENESIS and its clients.
