Donation to Yorkshire Peat Partnership

from our REGENEROSITY program

Earlier this year we introduced a philanthropic program focused exclusively on environmental stewardship that has committed to donating to charities, groups, and events that will positively impact the environment.

As a part of this commitment, we recently donated to The Yorkshire Peat Partnership in the UK, who are actively restoring peatlands in the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and northern parts of the South Pennines.  Dr Tim Thom, Peat Programme Manager at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, said:

“Yorkshire’s blanket bog is a beautiful and extraordinary peatland habitat: a haven for wildlife; a wild place to unwind; a natural flood defence; a filter for our drinking water; a climate-safe locking up millennia of carbon. Sadly, we have not afforded it the respect it is due over the last few decades and most of it has been dried out and damaged through historical mismanagement.

Public perception of our peatlands is now changing for the better, though, and Yorkshire Peat Partnership has brought over 40,000 hectares of blanket bog into restoration management since 2009.

We’re very grateful to Regenesis for their generous donation, which will help us to rewet, replant and restore even more of this fabulous habitat for Yorkshire to enjoy.”
