- Achieved compliance targets in both PlumeStop® treatment barriers while significantly reducing chlorinated hydrocarbon concentrations
- Enabled construction of a new waste-to-energy facility to begin while remediation remained active
- Combined SMZVI®, PlumeStop®, and 3DME® to reduce source mass and control plume migration across a complex groundwater site.
At an active waste management facility in Northern Italy, A2A Ambiente, TAUW, and REGENESIS implemented a combined in situ remediation strategy to address chlorinated hydrocarbon impacts within the footprint of a planned waste-to-energy plant. By integrating source treatment with SMZVI and 3DME and installing PlumeStop reactive barriers downgradient, the team achieved substantial contaminant reductions, met regulatory compliance targets within the treatment zones, and enabled redevelopment activities to move forward without delay. The project demonstrates how a coordinated, multi-technology approach can effectively support both environmental remediation and site redevelopment at complex industrial facilities.
