Introducing AquiFix™: The First Ever Solid, Micron-Scale Electron Donor to Treat Chlorinated Solvents

In this webinar we were pleased to have a special presentation by Paul Erickson, PhD, Director of Research & Development at REGENESIS. His presentation provided an overview of AquiFix, the first ever solid micron-scale electron donor to treat chlorinated solvents. This injectable fluid disperses widely within the aquifer, cost-effectively stimulating enhanced reductive dichlorination for periods of time, far exceeding any oil-based substrates.

Technology Features of AquiFix Discussed:

  • AquiFix is a long-lasting, fast-acting colloidal electron donor technology that supports enhanced reductive dichlorination (ERD)
  • Innovatively designed to be co-injected with a wide range of in situ remediation substrates, including PlumeStop® and S-MicroZVI®
  • Drives the biodegradation of chlorinated solvents in groundwater
  • Functions to quickly create reducing conditions and acclimate dechlorinating bacteria by providing a fast-degrading source of organic carbon
  • Provides slow-release fatty acids that extends the time between re-applications and offers bacteria a low-level source of organic carbon for efficient and sustained degradation
