Employee Spotlight: Amanda Sterkenburg, Marketing Manager | Europe

As you might be able to imagine, effectively marketing the company’s key offering across all the different European cultures and languages while navigating the same wide variety in government policies and market maturity, can be demanding – at best. However, Amanda’s extensive background prior to joining the company in 2013, provided a solid foundation to help establish an impressive growth trajectory for the

company in Europe. “My experience prior to joining REGENESIS included a variety of marketing roles in the UK, primarily architectural design firms, where I built up experience in website development, brand management, graphic design, photo shoot direction and management of bids, awards and events. I feel this experience, together with my science background and being a bilingual speaker, helped greatly in preparing me for my role at REGENESIS.

Amanda was born in the Netherlands. After obtaining a MSc in Physical Geography from the University of Utrecht she followed her heart and moved to London, UK. “London never sleeps and it is a fantastic place, especially when you are young. It’s buzzing with opportunities, art, creativity and has a vibrant mix of cultures. I felt really inspired when I lived there and completed 2-year acting training alongside my full-time marketing job at the time, and even managed to gain some professional acting experience afterwards.”

Amanda now lives near Bath in the Southwest of the UK with her husband Rich and feline Munch and treasures having nature on her doorstep. She can often be found walking along the local canal path and the river Avon. In her free time she also enjoys gardening, flower arranging, pilates, qi gong, listening to music, travel and photography. She shares “I can’t wait to see and do more again as the COVID situation gets better under control, like going to theatre and live concerts. I had a ticket for a live streaming performance of Nitin Sawney a couple of months ago, but it’s not the same if you can’t share and take in the atmosphere with other people.”

When asked why she’s chosen to stay with REGENESIS after so many years, Amanda points to the company’s strong commitment to science and the environment. She shares, “I enjoy working for a dedicated environmental company that is innovative and scientific at its core. As a result we’re also quite fast-moving and dynamic and this has allowed me to keep growing in my role, along with the team here in Europe.”
