Free Webinar | PFAS Lessons Learned Treating a Large-Scale AFFF Site Using In Situ Colloidal Activated Carbon

We were pleased to host Rebecca Mora, AECOM Associate Vice President and Senior Technical Leader, who presented PFAS lessons learned while effectively treating a large-scale, AFFF release in situ using colloidal activated carbon (CAC). She was joined by Ryan Moore, PFAS Remediation Program Director at REGENESIS.

Webinar Highlights:

  • Approach, lessons learned, and performance results after 2 years of post-injection monitoring from an in situ CAC application
  • Largest installed CAC barrier in the world measuring 1,635-feet-long to mitigate PFAS migration
  • Rapid implementation of remedial solutions due to perceived regulatory and public pressure
  • Treatment addressing high concentrations of PFAS (up to 550 ppb)

Case Study | Large PCE Plume in Finland Effectively Treated to Drinking Water Standards

In Eastern Finland, a fast-moving PCE (perchloroethylene) plume beneath a metal-processing facility was remediated to reduce impacts on a municipal drinking water source.

Case Study Highlights:

  • PCE concentrations were reduced to below the drinking water limit at the municipal water supply well
  • Results indicate that the combined treatment approach can be successfully applied in cold groundwater aquifers with low organic carbon content
  • Integrated source area grid treatment (ERD) and plume barrier treatment (PlumeStop) is an effective strategy for treating elongated chlorinated solvent plumes

Article | PFAS State of the Union: Staying Current on the Evolving PFAS Regulatory Landscape

A feature in Waste Advantage Magazine authored by Ryan Moore, PFAS Remediation Program Director at REGENESIS, underscores the dynamic regulatory environment surrounding PFAS, emphasizing the need for constant attention from regulatory bodies, industries, and the public to effectively address the risks and liabilities associated with PFAS contamination amidst evolving legislation, litigation, and technological advancements.
