Featured Article: The Problem with PFAS Waste Incineration
This article written by Maureen Dooley, VP – Industrial Sector of REGENESIS and published in Environmental Science & Engineering discusses the problem with PFAS waste incineration. The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) released a memo placing a moratorium on the incineration of materials containing PFAS. No commercially available disposal or incineration methods have proven effective at preventing the ‘forever chemicals’ from being recycled back into the environment. The use of the colloidal activated carbon (CAC) technology to contain PFAS in place avoids the creation and disposal of wastes whose ultimate fate cannot be assured. CAC has been successfully applied at PFAS-contaminated sites worldwide. The patented CAC technology from REGENESIS filters PFAS from groundwater to remove human and environmental exposure risks.

Article: PFAS Are Everywhere. Now What?
This article written by Steve Barnes of REGENESIS Remediation Services (RRS) and published in Water & Wastes Digest discusses what can be done about PFAS contamination now that it is likely to remain ubiquitous. The immense scope of the PFAS problem demands remedies for high-priority contaminated sites that are effective, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable. Colloidal activated carbon (CAC) treatments have demonstrated years of effectiveness in the field, including the world’s first in situ PFAS treatment achieving 100% PFAS removal (i.e., from several thousand parts per trillion to non-detect levels) for more than six years thus far.

Employee Spotlight: Will Clogan, RRS East Region Project Manager
Ask Will Clogan, REGENESIS Remediation Services (RRS) East Region Project Manager II, what he values most in his work and you will likely get a quick response about the importance of teamwork. That’s because there are numerous facets of his work where he routinely relies on other RRS staff to assist in making sure projects have successful outcomes. With such a large geographical territory and the responsibility of numerous projects at a given time, it is typical for Clogan to encounter a range of challenges. One, in particular, involved a site that called for installing a PRB in weathered bedrock with a large vertical interval. Naturally, teamwork played a key role in the outcome. He shares, “This particular site posed many challenges with the installation of wells and formation acceptance. Every section of the PRB threw a new challenge. RRS field staff, REGENESIS technical support, and our client collaborated daily to overcome the challenges. Eventually, the collective support and creativity allowed the team to overcome the challenges and install the PRB.”
