This video reviews a site at Martha’s Vineyard Airport where a PlumeStop permeable reactive barrier (PRB) was used to treat PFAS. PlumeStop PRBS filter PFAS out of groundwater, sorbing the contaminants onto the aquifer matrix and preventing further plume migration. In less than four months, PlumeStop has eliminated PFAS mass flux immediately downgradient of the barrier and significantly reduced PFAS concentrations further away, as monitoring continues. The cost-effective and sustainable solution to remove PFAS exposure risk provides an alternative to expensive and ineffective pump & treat (P&T) systems.

Congratulations to Naval Base Point Loma, CA and REGENESIS client Cape Environmental Management Inc., who were honored in the category of Environmental Restoration and Installation at the Department of Defense 2023 Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards. Technical Bulletin | S-MicroZVI Performance Over a 4-Year Column Study 

This technical bulletin documents a soil column study that was performed to evaluate the longevity of S-MicroZVI, an in situ remediation product capable of treating chlorinated solvents via direct chemical reduction reactions. This study exhibited the ability of S-MicroZVI to degrade chlorinated solvents over almost 4 years while substantially limiting the formation of the toxic daughter products CDCE and VC under increasingly demanding conditions. Product persistence is enhanced by the sulfidation of the particle surface which inhibits the unwanted hydrolysis reaction between zero-valent iron and water.
