REGENESIS Remediation Solutions John Freim, Ph.D.
Director of Materials Science, REGENESIS
Dr. Freim is well-known throughout the environmental industry for his work in developing break-through in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) technologies successfully employed throughout the environmental remediation industry. Dr. Freim has over 30 years of expertise in materials processing, and 15 years in the environmental remediation industry, and is leading the establishment of the first REGENESIS state-of-the-art colloidal product manufacturing facility. In his role with REGENESIS, Dr. Freim is responsible for the manufacture of colloidal materials, including PlumeStop® Liquid Activated Carbon, colloidal iron, and new products used in environmental remediation. Before joining REGENESIS, Dr. Freim founded and served as President of OnMaterials, a company that specialized in the affordable manufacture and application of zero valent iron (ZVI) remedial amendments for soil and groundwater remediation, which resulted in the treatment of hundreds of environmentally impacted sites. Dr. Freim received a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

Jack Sheldon is a remediation expert with over 35 years of industry experience. He has specialized in the field application of various types of bioremediation and chemical oxidation/reduction systems, with personal involvement in 22 first-type remediation projects in their respective states. He has completed remediation projects in all 50 states and several locations abroad. Mr. Sheldon has worked extensively in the field to determine chemical type and extent, prepared various environmental reports, and successfully managed numerous environmental projects and technology programs. His primary expertise has been in the identification and selection of remediation technologies for projects and the monitoring of those technologies. Through this process, Mr. Sheldon has designed, implemented, and supervised hundreds of treatability and pilot studies comparing technologies and determining their feasibility under simulated or actual site conditions.

President, Porewater Solutions
Dr. Grant Carey is President of Porewater Solutions, and is an expert in mathematical modeling, NAPL characterization, and environmental forensics, with a focus on both litigation and regulatory projects. Dr. Carey has a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph, and has developed industry-leading modeling and visualization software including In-Situ Remediation (ISR-MT3DMS) for optimizing remediation and modeling diffusion-dominated transport, as well as Visual Bio, the NAPL Depletion Model, Vapor-2D, BioRedox-MT3DMS, and the Remediation ToolKit which includes SEQUENCE, BioTrends, and BioTracker. Dr. Carey is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto, where he is collaborating on research related to back-diffusion and long-term strategies for remediating complex sites. He has published or delivered more than 90 technical papers and short courses, and was previously a trainer for ITRC web seminars on Mass Flux/Mass Discharge, and Remediation of Contaminated Sediments.

Rick McGregor is the President of InSitu Remediation Services Ltd and has over 26 years’ experience in groundwater and soil assessment and remediation. Rick has worked in over 30 countries and has authored numerous papers on groundwater assessment and remediation. Rick holds a M.Sc. from the University of Waterloo in hydrogeology and geochemistry and is a Certified Ground Water Professional in Canada and the United States.

Dora Taggart is the President of Microbial Insights, Inc. in Knoxville, Tennessee. She received a Biomedical Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University and has focused on the optimization and implementation of molecular tools for environmental remediation, microbiologically-influenced corrosion and microbial source tracking. Since joining Microbial Insights in 2001, she has developed and commercialized over 60 different nucleic acid-based analyses. Under her direction, Microbial Insights has become a worldwide provider of molecular tools for leading consulting firms, government agencies and academia. Ms. Taggart runs national and international workshops on these tools. She has more than 20 peer reviewed co-authored publications and is often invited to speak at conferences around the world.
