Client Spotlight: Jill Tribley, Senior Project Geologist at Woodard & Curran

    jill tribley

It’s not often someone knows at a relatively young age what they want to pursue for a career. It’s just one example of what makes Jill Tribley, PG, Senior Project Geologist at Woodard & Curran, successful in her field. When Tribley started at Cummings/Riter Consultants, Inc., (later purchased by Woodard & Curran) a leading integrated, science-based operations company and valued REGENESIS® client, it was the logical next step, who showed an interest in geology as far back as high school. Shares Tribley, “I knew early on that I wanted to study geology in college because of my love of both the outdoors and science. My dad and I would spend many afternoons hiking in central Pennsylvania, which fed into those interests.” Read our client spotlight to learn more about Jill.

    Low-cost Bioremediation of Chlorinated Solvents

HRC® is an engineered, hydrogen release compound designed specifically for enhanced,
in situ anaerobic bioremediation of chlorinated compounds in groundwater or highly saturated soils. HRC enables enhanced anaerobic biodegradation by adding hydrogen (an electron donor) to groundwater and/or soil to increase the number and vitality of indigenous microorganisms able to perform the naturally occurring process of enhanced reductive dechlorination.

    Accelerated Treatment of Intermediate Compounds

Bio-Dechlor INOCULUM® Plus (BDI Plus) is designed to provide rapid and effective treatment of undesirable anaerobic dechlorination intermediates such as dichloroethene (DCE) and vinyl chloride (VC), and is a low-cost means of enhancing the anaerobic biodegradation process. Once in place, this microbial consortium accelerates the rate of chlorinated contaminant degradation from parent compounds to intermediates like DCE and VC, completely through to harmless end products such as ethene and ethane. It is highly compatible with a range of electron donors.

Multi-layered Vapor Barrier for New Building Construction

Vapor Intrusion Barriers need to balance two key characteristics, chemical resistance (how well the barrier protects against the chemical of concern) and constructability (the ability to effectively seal all entry pathways in a building).

Geo-Seal is a composite system that creates the ideal blend between constructability and chemical resistance by using both high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and spray applied asphalt latex. Ideal for new construction, Geo-Seal has been accepted by state environmental agencies across the country, the US NAVY, US AIR FORCE, Fortune 500 Companies, and leading environmental consulting firms around the world.

PlumeStop® Liquid Activated Carbon™ is a break-through groundwater remediation technology that reduces dissolved phase contaminant plumes in days. The key innovation with PlumeStop is that it is composed of extremely fine particles of activated carbon (1‐2μm) suspended in water through a proprietary dispersion chemistry developed by the REGENESIS R&D Department. This allows the technology to flow into the subsurface at low pressure and achieve consistent, reliable distribution – a capability unlike any other form of activated carbon used for groundwater remediation today. As a result, environmental professionals gain a certainty that the contaminants have been removed throughout the entire treated area. It also secures complete biodegradation of contaminants, and continually regenerates its sorptive capacity, allowing for long term treatment.

New In Situ Remediation Mapping Technique Studied by Leading Academics in Sweden Shows Promise

Four leading remediation professionals from Sweden’s academic community have published findings about a new subsurface mapping technique. Their paper investigates the ability to map in situ treatment of chlorinated solvents within the subsurface, using direct current resistivity and time-domain induced polarization tomography (DCIP). The study was completed on a contaminated site in Sweden, where a 3-D Microemulsion® pilot trial had been completed. The results show the extent of the treatment achieved and suggest that this is a promising method for verification of treatment zones.

Long-Term, Low-Cost Remediation of Chlorinated Solvents

3-D Microemulsion is an injectable electron donor optimized for low-cost, long-lasting in situ remediation of chlorinated solvents. Its engineered, wide-area, subsurface distribution significantly reduces the number of injection points and events required, resulting in time and cost savings. A viable, long-term source of staged-release hydrogen on the order of 2-4 years from a single application, this technology is faster and often lower cost than lengthy natural attenuation approaches.

    Executive Vice President of EnviroForensics

Throughout his 20 year career in environmental consulting, Jeff Carnahan has remained true to his goal to understand and focus on the needs of his clients. While his current position as Executive Vice President of EnviroForensics®, a leading environmental engineering firm, garners much of his time, Jeff still puts a priority on providing personalized client service. It’s a combination of successfully solving client challenges and honing his scientific, regulatory and management skill-set that continues to separate Jeff from his peers. It also is one reason why EnviroForensics, a REGENESIS® client, continues to excel in all phases of environmental engineering. Shares Jeff, “Because my true passion is science, I’ll probably never stop working in the day-to-day, hands-on area of environmental remediation.”

Once in place, this microbial consortium accelerates the rate of chlorinated contaminant degradation from parent compounds to intermediates like DCE and VC through to harmless end products such as ethene and ethane. It is highly compatible with a range of electron donors.

A Liquid Iron-Based Reagent for the Enhanced In Situ Chemical Reduction (ISCR) of Chlorinated Contaminants

CRS® (Chemical Reducing Solution) is an iron-based amendment for in situ chemical reduction (ISCR) of halogenated hydrocarbon contaminants such as chlorinated ethenes and ethanes. This highly efficient in situ remediation technology contains a form of liquid iron which provides better distribution than can be achieved by directly injecting a solid iron material into the subsurface. The product allows for seamless integration with anaerobic bioremediation, and is easy to apply with the electron donor 3-D Microemulsion.

Destroy a Wide-Range of Contaminants through ISCO

PersulfOx is an advanced in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) reagent that promotes rapid and sustained destruction of a wide-range of organic contaminants. It is an all-in-one product with a
built-in catalyst, which activates the sodium persulfate component and generates contaminant-destroying free radicals without the costly and potentially hazardous addition of a separate activator. The patented catalyst enhances the oxidative destruction of both petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated contaminants in the subsurface.
